Florida based waste and recycling company, Advance Disposal has reopened its newly upgraded Material Recycling Facility (MRF) for processing Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in Hesperia, California.
The upgraded facility features equipment and design by San Diego based recycling equipment manufacturer, CP Group.
CP Group said that it worked with Advance Disposal to redesign and retrofit their 21 year old MRF sorting system, which previously handled 20 tons per hour, to now process 50 tons per hour, while operating on one extended shift instead of two.
“Twenty years ago, Advance Disposal constructed one of the first mixed material processing MRFs in California,” commented Sheila Bath, president of Advance Disposal.
“When we needed to upgrade, we turned to CP Group because of their experience in mixed waste processing, and ability to integrate the new equipment into our existing system and floor space,” she added.
CP Group explained that as part of the upgrade it decommissioned the old equipment, which included an infeed conveyor and shaker screen, while leaving the sort station to be reused in the new system.
Advance Disposal continued to operate the existing system while the new machinery was installed.
The recycling equipment manufacturer said that operation shutdown time was minimal due to its design and strategic project planning, as well as the transitional operations plan by Advanced Disposal.
The new equipment installed to increase the system throughput and boost material recovery levels includes the CP Metering Drum, CP Trommels, Overbelt Magnets, CP Scalping Screen, CP GlassBreaker Screen, 2 CPScreens with proprietary cam-disc screening technology, Eddy Current Separator, and a Fines Trommel.
